Vietnam announced alert across the country after 30 novel coronavirus cases were reported on Wednesday, local media reported.
It came after at least three months that 30 locally transmitted COVID-19 infections were reported, according to daily Vietnam News.
The centrally-controlled National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control asked local authorities to tighten supervision over the pandemic in all localities in the country.
A country of over 95 million population, Vietnam has not reported any death due to the COVID-19.
The officials said Da Nang General Hospital, Hospital C Da Nang, and Da Nang Orthopedic and Physical Rehabilitation Hospital pose the “highest risk of community transmission”.
They also reported an outbreak in the central Vietnam Da Nang city where 27 cases were detected. Flights to and from the city have been cancelled for the coming two weeks.
People who have travelled to Da Nang have been asked to produce health certificates.
The committee officials also asked people to wear face masks in large gatherings and on public transport and also avoid any unnecessary travel. However, high school exams set for Aug. 9-10 will be held according to their schedule.
Vietnam has reported 446 coronavirus cases so far, with 369 or 82.7% of them recovered.
