ANKARA

The US stock market opened higher on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both hitting record high levels.

The S&P 500 added 12 points, or 0.3%, to 4,356 at 9.37 a.m. EDT (1337GMT). The Nasdaq rose 60 points, or 0.4%, to 14,755.

Amazon hit a new record high of $3,733.93 per share for the second day in a row, while Apple added 1.1%.

The Dow Jones climbed 55 points, or 0.2%, to 34,631.

The VIX volatility index, known as the fear index, fell 0.7% to 16.33, while the yield on the 10-year US Treasury was down 13.1% to 1.328%.

The dollar index, on the other hand, was up 0.05% to 92.60.

Gold extended its rally to a sixth consecutive day by adding 0.5% to $1,806 per ounce. Silver increased 0.05% to 26.31.

Investors are focusing on the Federal Reserve’s minutes set to be released later Wednesday from its meeting of June 15-16, when the central bank signaled that it could make two rate hikes in 2023 of 0.25% each.
