US Senate Republicans hope to vote on a coronavirus relief bill next week as the chamber returns from its August recess, a senior senator said Tuesday.

“We have a focused, targeted solution that we hope that the House would pass and the House would agree to,” John Barrasso told PBS NewsHour.

The bill is “focused on getting people back to work” and “getting kids back to school,” said Wyoming senator, but excludes “so many things” in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s bill “unrelated to coronavirus.”

The plan to vote on the legislation still lacks approval from the broader Senate Republican Conference, he said, adding it will be the agenda of Tuesday’s conference call with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
