WASHINGTON

Two federal Bureau of Prisons jail guards who were on duty the night disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein died in his jail cell were arrested Tuesday. 

The guards are expected to be charged later in the day on federal charges related to their failure to check on Espstein, the New York Times reported citing a person familiar with the matter.

Epstein was found dead hanging in his Manhattan federal jail cell Aug. 10 while he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

His death has sparked a number of conspiracy theories, in part, due to the its circumstances.
