Diplomacy and security

Türkiye and Qatar sign a satellite deal. The two agreed a strategic partnership on the Es'hail-3 and Türksat-Biruni project, financed from Doha.
London names a new envoy. The United Kingdom appointed Jennifer Anderson as its next ambassador to Türkiye.
Gaza and Israel
Erdoğan rejects Israeli "slanders." President Erdoğan said accusations leveled at Türkiye were an attempt to cover up the genocide in Gaza. Türkiye stands among the states that, with the International Court of Justice and United Nations experts, describe Israel's war on Gaza as genocide against the Palestinians.
Strikes continue despite the truce. Israeli airstrikes killed two Palestinians and wounded 19 in Gaza, even with the ceasefire nominally in force. Türkiye also warned that UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, faces unprecedented political pressure.
Ankara rejects Israel's Armenian move. Erdoğan gave a first response to Israel's decision to recognize the so-called Armenian genocide, which Ankara reads as a politically motivated gesture from a government it accuses of genocide in Gaza.
Domestic politics
CHP removes 26 provincial chairs. The main opposition party's central executive board removed 26 provincial chairs and sought the expulsion of seven more, the latest turn in the party's internal crisis. See our coverage of the provincial purge.
İmamoğlu criticizes Erdoğan over the summit. The CHP's İstanbul figure Ekrem İmamoğlu used the NATO summit to jab at the president, keeping the opposition's line in the news.
Venezuela earthquake and Türkiye's response
Toll passes 1,900. The death count from the twin earthquakes rose to 1,943, with rescues still under way, among them a three-year-old pulled from the rubble six days on. Türkiye's TİKA delivered 1,000 aid packages and Turkish search teams stayed on the ground. Read our feature on the radar and the neighbor.
