Turkish stocks down at midweek close

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index on Wednesday closed at 122,747.08 points, down 0.65% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 124,215.90, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 809.03 points from Tuesday's close of 123,556.10 points -- the highest closing level in its history.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,555.50 by market close, down from $1,555.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $63.34f per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
