Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Charles Michel, head of the EU Council, will meet in Istanbul on Saturday, said the Turkish Communications Directorate. 

A statement late Friday said the meeting will focus on Turkish-EU relations and regional developments.

This visit will be the first-ever visit to Turkey of the EU’s new management since taking office last fall.

The EU Council is the EU’s main decision-making body, made up of government ministers from every member state.
