Turkey’s foreign minister spoke by phone Thursday with Iraqi Kurd leaders on regional developments, particularly tensions between the U.S. and Iran. 

Mevlut Cavusoglu held a phone call with Nechirvan Barzani, president of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq, and KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

Cavusoglu underscored Turkey’s support for Iraq, saying it has always stood by the Iraqi people and always will. Bilateral relations were also discussed.
