Turkey’s benchmark stock index rose 0.22%, or 243.83 points on Wednesday, to start the midday of the week at 113,397.29 points.

At Tuesday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index soared 0.87% to reach 113,153.46 points with a daily trading volume of 9.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.65 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.9440 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to 5.9480 at Tuesday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also fell slightly to 6.5950, versus 6.5980, and one British pound traded for 7.7180 Turkish liras, versus 7.7140 at the previous close.
