Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,409.85 points on Tuesday, up by 0.81% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,402.88 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index increased 11.33 points from the previous close of 1,398.52 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,394.25 points, while its daily high was 1,404.86 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 982 billion Turkish liras (over $112 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 13.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 51 stocks on the index rose, while 38 fell compared to yesterday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and gold miner Koza Altin.
State lender Halkbank was the best performer, with its shares up 6.04%, while stocks of conglomerate Net Holding saw the sharpest drop of 2.41%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,775.30 by market close, down from $1,777.25 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $75.19 per barrel as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT).
