Turkey’s benchmark stock index was up 0.52%, or 558.75 points, to start Thursday at 108,260.07 points.

On Wednesday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 0.85% to 107,701.32 points with a daily trading volume of 8.5 billion Turkish liras (some $1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.7480 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared to 5.7410 at Wednesday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3770, versus 6.3780, and one British pound traded for 7.5540 Turkish liras, while it was 7.5330 at the previous close.
