Turkey’s benchmark stock index surged 0.44%, or 464.61 points, to start Wednesday at 107,254.48 points.

On Tuesday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index fell 1.21% to 106,789.87 points with a daily trading volume of 12 billion Turkish liras (some $2.1 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.7450 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to 5.7340 at Tuesday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3650, versus 6.3510, and one British pound traded for 7.4810 Turkish liras, while it was 7.4710 at the previous close.
