Turkey’s benchmark stock index rose by 0.13% to 115,338.85 points at the closing session of Tuesday.
Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index started the day at 115,740.98 points. It has earned 148.80 points from Monday’s close of 115,190.05 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 115,059.63 points and 116,279.22 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 828.5 billion Turkish liras ($121 billion) by market close, with a record daily trading volume of 21.7 billion Turkish liras ($3.16 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 53 stocks on the index rose, 42 were down, and five were flat compared to Monday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by iron/steel producer Kardemir, automotive producer Karsan, and chemical giant Petkim.
Conglomerate Eczacibasi Holding was the best performer, with its shares up 9.95%, while chemical firm Alkim dropped the most, losing 3.43%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,755.30 by market close, up from $1,745.35 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $43.50 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Tuesday.
