Turkey’s benchmark stock index started Friday up 2.12% or 2,038.07 points to open at 98,287.16 points.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 was up 0.41% at 96,249.13 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.6 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 6.9260 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, versus 6.9420 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also decreased to 7.5130, compared to 7.5520, and one British pound traded for 8.6600 Turkish liras, versus 8.6990 at Thursday’s close.
