Turkey’s benchmark stock index hit a new all-time high, closing Tuesday at 1,570.42 points, up 0.96%. 

Starting the day at 1,561.78 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index increased 14.95 points over Monday’s close at 1,555.47 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,557.54 and 1,572.91 points – 65 stocks on the index rose, 30 fell, and five were flat compared to Monday’s close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.2 trillion Turkish liras ($160 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 21.7 billion Turkish liras ($2.9 billion).

Stocks of automotive company Dogus Otomotiv climbed the most, up 9.99%, while the sharpest drop of 5.33% was seen in shares of fertilizer producer Ege Gubre. 

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti, gold miner Koza Altin, and automotive producer Otokar.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1.733,90 by market close, up from $1,732.30 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $67.90 per barrel as of 6.10 p.m. local time (1510GMT) on Tuesday.
