Turkey’s benchmark stock index rose by 0.53% or 659.8 points on Wednesday to start the day at 124,215.90 points, hitting historical high.

At Tuesday’s closing, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 0.76% at 123,556.10 points with a daily trading volume of 12.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.9430 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to Tuesday’s closing rate of 5.9320.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 6.5880, versus 6.5920, and one British pound traded for 7.7780 Turkish liras. It was 7.7700 at the previous close.
