Turkey’s benchmark stock index fell by 2.49%, or 2,518.11 points on Thursday to start the day at 98,448.16 points.
At Wednesday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was down 0.10% at 100,966.27 points, with a daily trading volume of 9.15 billion Turkish liras ($1.48 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.2290 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, versus 6.1910 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 7.0410, compared to 7.0240, and one British pound traded for 8 Turkish liras. It was 8.0340 at the midweek’s close.
