Turkey’s benchmark stock index fell 1.51% or 1,357.9 points on Wednesday to start the day at 88,285.81 points.
At Tuesday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 1.8% at 89,643.71 points, with a daily trading volume of 9.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.6270 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, versus 6.5710 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 7.2940, compared to 7.1930, and one British pound traded for 8.2160 Turkish liras, versus 8.1680 at Tuesday’s close.
