Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,349.11 points on Monday, down 0.18% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,355.54 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 2.48 points from last Monday’s close of 1,351.59 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,345.52 points, while its daily high was 1,362.57 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.01 trillion Turkish liras ($119.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 10.44 billion Turkish liras ($1.21 billion).
On the first transaction day of the week, 43 stocks on the index rose, 53 fell, and four were flat compared to last Monday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, iron and steel producer Kardemir, and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.
RTA Laboratories, active in the biology and health fields, was the best performer with its shares up 9.96%. Stocks of cement producer Konya Cimento saw the sharpest drop with 7.46%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,809 by market close, down from $1,821 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $73.35 per barrel as of 6.47 p.m. local time (1547GMT).
Borsa Istanbul was closed from Tuesday through Friday last week as the country observed the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of the Sacrifice.
