Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,454.74 points on Tuesday, down 1.35% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 1,474.09 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 19.98 points from Monday’s close of 1,474.72 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,454.74 points, while its daily high was 1,476.33 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($132.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of almost 12.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

A total of 16 stocks on the index rose, 81 fell, and three remained unchanged compared to Monday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and iron and steel producer Kardemir.

Stocks of RTA Laboratories, operating in biology and health, were the best performer of the day, jumping 5.16%. Stocks of wheel manufacturer Jants did the worst, falling 3.61%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,810.85 by market close, down from $1,823.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $71.53 per barrel, down 0.96%, as of 6.59 p.m. local time (1559GMT).
