Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed the day at 101,267.36 points on Monday, up 2.54% from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index started the day at 100,086.33 points. As of the daily close, it gained 2,508.40 points from Friday’s close of 98,449.46 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 100,086.33 points and 101,147.15 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 710 billion Turkish liras ($102 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 15 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).
On the first transaction day of the week, 54 stocks on the index rose, 3 were down and the remaining were flat compared to Friday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by medicine producer Eczacibasi, private lender Garanti and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.
Shares of Celebi Hava Servisi, which provides integrated ground services at airports, was the best performer, with its shares up 9.99%, while shares of Ulker, a leading food company dropped the most, losing 1.57%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,718.10 by market close, up from $1,738.10 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was over $22.55 level per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Monday.
