ANKARA
Turkey welcomed on Wednesday the recently held elections of the Assembly of Representatives in Tajikistan.
The People’s Democratic Party received 50.4% votes in the polls.
“We wish that the elections held on March 1 will be favorable for our friend Tajikistan,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The communique congratulated President Emomali Rahmon and the ruling People’s Democratic Party for their success.
“We are pleased that the elections were held peacefully all over the country and with a high participation rate of 86.4%,” it added.
Tajikistan is governed by a presidential system and parliament consists the Assembly
