WASHINGTON

U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he hopes events in Hong Kong “go well” amid an ongoing trade dispute with China and the prospect of signing a bill that could derail negotiations.

“It’s going very well but at the same time we want to see it go well in Hong Kong and I think it will,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “I think that President Xi [Jinping] can make that happen and I know him and I know we’d like to make it happen.”
