A special court in Islamabad has slapped Pakistan’s former military ruler Gen. Pervez Musharraf with the death sentence in absentia for high treason.

Musharraf is currently undergoing treatment in the United Arab Emirates for several health conditions, including a cardiac problem. His party, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), has vowed to challenge the verdict at the Supreme Court.
