The 2020 men’s football season in South Korea will kick off on May 8 after a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“In accordance with the government’s “social distance” policy, all games will be held unattended for the time being after the opening,” the South Korean league said on its website. 

In the opener of K League 1, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors will host Suwon Samsung Bluewings at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

Also, the second-tier season will be held on May 8.

According to Johns Hopkins University, South Korea has recorded 10,708 cases so far, with 240 deaths.
