Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Jan. 11 in Moscow for talks on the Middle East crises, the Kremlin said on Monday.

Merkel will pay a working visit to Russia at Putin’s invitation to discuss the escalation of tensions in the Middle East following a U.S. drone strike in Iraq which killed Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani on Friday, the Kremlin press service said in a statement, published on the presidential website.
