HAKKARI, Turkey

Police seized 52.4 kilograms (115.5 pounds) of heroin in southeastern Turkey’s Hakkari province on Thursday, according to officials.

Anti-drug police found heroin packages hidden inside the trunk of a truck stopped for snap checking in Yuksekova district, the provincial governorate said in a statement.

While the contraband was seized, driver of the truck was detained.

Crackdown on drugs, has, over the years, helped Turkey deal with narcoterrorism, or profits for terrorist groups from the illegal trade.
