Security forces in southeastern Turkey seized 102 kilograms (224 pounds) of marijuana, along with ammunition and personal possessions belonging to PKK terrorists, local officials said on Thursday.
According to a statement by the Bingol provincial governor’s office, gendarme units carried out an operation in the province’s southern rural areas.
“102 kilograms of marijuana, nine hand-made explosives receiver, 50 meters [164 feet] of cable, 100 batteries, solar panels, two accumulators, two sleeping-bags, first aid equipment and organizational documents were seized during the operation,” said the statement.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU — has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.
