What we are
TurkishPress is a magazine of Türkiye. We cover news from Türkiye and its region, and we keep a standing atlas of Anatolian history, cities, and culture. We have been publishing on the open web since 1996.
We write in English, for readers who want Türkiye covered on its own terms and in its own context, rather than reduced to a wire headline.
How we source
Turkish sources lead. For news, we read the Turkish record first, Anadolu Ajansı, Hürriyet, Sözcü, Cumhuriyet, and other established outlets, cited by name, and we pair a Turkish source with a Western one rather than running a Western wire alone.
We prefer the original record over reporting about it: court decisions, official gazettes, ministry statements, statistical releases, and NATO or UN documents, checked before we lean on secondhand accounts. Two outlets carrying the same wire count as one source, not two confirmations.
We do not treat Wikipedia, blogs, wire aggregators, or social media posts as sources. If a claim can only be traced to one of those, it does not run.
Facts and claims
We separate what is on the record from what someone asserts. Dates, contracts, and official actions are stated plainly. Contested or partisan claims are attributed by name in the sentence where they appear, so you can see who is saying what. Where authoritative sources disagree, we report the disagreement instead of quietly picking a side.
Corrections
We fix errors promptly and note what changed and when, rather than editing the record silently. If you spot something wrong, tell us at [email protected] and we will look into it.
Bylines
Our reporting runs under the TurkishPress masthead. A byline of By TurkishPress means the piece was written and checked to the standards on this page.
Independence
TurkishPress is one of a small family of independently run sites. Our editorial decisions are our own. We keep news and opinion separate, label opinion as opinion, and disclose any sponsored content plainly. We do not let advertisers or outside interests shape our reporting.
