IMO launches evacuation plan for 11,000 seafarers stranded in the Gulf
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) said it will begin carrying out an evacuation plan for about 11,000 seafarers who have been stranded in the Gulf for nearly four months after commercial vessel transits through the Strait of Hormuz ground to a halt. The move comes as talks over operating the strait continue and as Washington insists no toll can be demanded for passage.
