Health authorities in several Asia-Pacific nations reported new coronavirus infections and fatalities on Monday.
The Philippines registered 959 new virus cases, bringing the overall count to 478,761, according to the country’s Health Ministry.
Six more fatalities rose the death toll in the Philippines to 9,263, while the total number of recoveries rose to 448, 279.
Bangladesh confirmed 910 new COVID-19 cases over the past day, taking the total number to 516,929, according to the Directorate General for Health Services.
At least 24 patients died over the same period, raising the death toll to 7,650.
Twenty-four new COVID-19 cases, all imported, have raised Singapore’s overall count to 58,721, according to the Health Ministry.
The death toll in the country stood at 29, while 58,487 patients have so far recovered.
In the past 24 hours, 53 new infections were detected in China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, bringing the total number of virus cases to 9,018.
The death toll in the country rose to 151 with one new fatality. To date, 8,055 patients have recovered from the disease.
The total number of cases in Thailand climbed to 8,439 as 745 more people contracted the virus over the past 24 hours.
The death toll rose to 65 as one more person died of the virus.
As many as 4,352 coronavirus patients have so far recovered from the disease, said Thailand’s Status Management Center.
According to the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC), three imported virus cases were detected over the past 24 hours.
The new cases raised the country’s total to 815, including seven fatalities and 696 recoveries.
The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed more than 1.84 million lives in 191 countries and regions since it originated in China in December 2019.
Over 85.2 million cases have been reported worldwide, with more than 47.93 million recoveries, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
The US, India, and Brazil remain the worst-hit countries in terms of cases.
