The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Anthony Edwards with the first pick of the 2020 NBA Draft early on Thursday.
“A dream come true. Honored to be here @timberwolves! Let’s get to work,” the 19-year-old said on Instagram.
Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game last season as a freshman at the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Golden State Warriors took the Memphis Tigers’ center James Wiseman – who averaged 19.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, and three blocks – with the second pick.
LaMelo Ball followed as the third pick of the draft to the Charlotte Hornets.
Ball, 19, averaged 17 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game for the Illawarra Hawks in Australia’s National Basketball League.
He is the younger brother of Lonzo Ball, who currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans.
