Daniil Medvedev and Dominic Thiem advanced to the US Open quarterfinals late Monday.
Last year's finalist Medvedev from Russia eliminated American Frances Tiafoe with the sets of 6-4 6-1 6-0.
He will take on his compatriot Andrey Rublev in the next stage.
Meanwhile, Austrian Thiem beat Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the quarterfinals.
Thiem won the game with the sets of 7-6 (7-4) 6-1 6-1.
He will face Alex de Minaur from Australia in the next round.
Mertens advances to women’s quarterfinals
No. 2 seed Sofia Kenin was eliminated by Elise Mertens of Belgium with a 6-3, 6-3 defeat.
Mertes will play against Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in the women’s singles quarterfinals of the US Open.
