Mali’s presidency is on high alert over a potential COVID-19 outbreak among staff members, it said on Thursday.
A meeting of the Superior Council of Defense has been canceled and all staff members are set to undergo COVID-19 tests, the presidency said on Twitter.
The entire premises of the presidency will be disinfected, it added.
There were no details shared of how many people have been infected.
According to local media reports, the council was set to deliberate on new measures for Mali’s fight against the coronavirus.
A health emergency was declared in the country in late March and remains in force to date.
Mali’s COVID-19 caseload stood at 4,461 as of Wednesday, including 148 deaths, according to Health Ministry data.
