A Lokomotiv Moscow player was infected with the novel coronavirus, the football club said Saturday.
“Jefferson Farfan has tested positive for coronavirus. We wish Jeff a speedy recovery! Get better soon!,” it said on Twitter.
The 35-year-old Peruvian winger previously played for the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven and Germany’s Schalke 04.
Farfan joined Lokomotiv Moscow in 2017 and won the Russian championship in 2018.
The virus forced Russia to suspend the premier league matches March 17.
But the Russian Premier Liga will restart June 21, league’s organizers said Friday.
