Italian football club Lecce’s first team will forgo their salaries for March and have agreed to only receive their wages if they remain in Serie A.
Lecce announced that the club and first team members reached an agreement on payments in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
”The sporting director, coaching staff and all the players of the first team have given their willingness to waive their monthly earnings for March, the amount of which has been converted into prize money, conditional on the completion of Serie A and the achievement of survival,” the club said Wednesday in a statement.
Lecce are currently in 18th place, in the relegation zone, with 25 points in 26 matches.
