Lazio had a shocking home loss of 2-1 to Sassuolo on Saturday, possibly disrupting their title bid in the Italian top-tier Serie A division.

The home team took the 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute in Rome as Spanish midfielder Luis Alberto scored for Lazio.

In the second half, Sassuolo leveled the game as Italian forward Giacomo Raspadori put the ball into the Lazio net, 1-1.

But, Sassuolo came back in the injury time as Italian forward Francesco Caputo scored the winner with a header.

This third successive loss appears set to hurt second place Lazio, which have 68 points in 32 weeks.

Having 75 points, Juventus can extend their lead to 10 points at the top of Serie A if the Turin club beat third place Atalanta at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

Following the win in Rome, Sassuolo boosted their points to 46 to be in the eighth spot in the standings.
