The Los Angeles Lakers have broken their media silence, posting online for the first time since Sunday’s untimely death of legendary superstar Kobe Bryant.

“We are devastated and have been forever changed by the sudden loss of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna,” the team posted on Instagram and Twitter late Wednesday, referring to Bryant’s 13-year-old-daughter, who died along with eight others in a helicopter crash.

Reaching out to Bryant’s widow and other surviving family members, the team added: “We send our love to Vanessa, the Bryant family, and to the families of the other passengers.”
