NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan

Four people died Saturday when a military plane went down in southeastern Kazakhstan, said an official statement.

On a flight from the capital Nur-Sultan to southeastern Almaty, the An-26 military plane, used by the Kazakhstan National Intelligence Committee, disappeared from radar at around 17.20 local time (1120GMT), according to a statement by Almaty Airport.

The plane belonging to the committee’s border service reportedly crashed during an emergency landing.

Besides the four casualties from the six people on board, two injured people were taken to hospital.

Almaty’s Emergencies Department said crews were being sent to the area to investigate the cause of the crash.
