WASHINGTON
Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden defeated Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in Michigan, the biggest prize among the six states holding primaries Tuesday, according to projections by multiple news outlets.
With 60% of precincts reporting, Biden has 53% of the vote compared to Sanders, with 39.1%. The state has 125 delegates up for grabs.
Sanders nearly won the 2016 Democratic primary.
Tuesday's contest includes Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Idaho, North Dakota and Washington, offering a total of 352 delegates.
Biden is also projected to win the Mississippi and Missouri primaries.
