An Iranian soldier was killed along the Iraqi border in Iran’s Kurdistan province, state-run media said late Wednesday.
Mohammed Rasul Khatami was targeted while on patrol in the town of Mariwan, according to IRNA news agency.
No further details were provided but the region has previously witnessed clashes between soldiers and the PJAK, the Iranian wing of the terrorist PKK, as well as militants of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.
