ANKARA

Police in Hong Kong opened fire on protestors on Monday with live ammunition and tear gas canisters, leaving one demonstrator critically injured, local media reported.

Protestors, mainly young people, gathered at around 6:30 a.m. local time (10:30GMT Sunday) to mobilize support for a general strike, the Hong Kong Free Press reported.

The injured protestor was shot in abdomen in the Sai Wan Ho area of the once vibrant business city. He is reportedly in critical condition.
