France reported 30 more fatalities from coronavirus on Monday, a double-digit rise from the previous day.
The death toll nationwide has risen to 29,436, the Health Ministry said.
Meanwhile, the tally of infections rose to 157,372, an increase of 152 cases from the previous day.
However, hospitalizations decreased on Monday with cases coming in at 10,707, a drop by 129 patients over the past day.
Those in intensive care fell to 818, down by 23 patients from Sunday.
Despite the severity of the virus, most people experience mild symptoms and recover. Since the start of the outbreak, 73,034 people have recovered in France and have returned home.
After originating in China last December, COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, has spread to 188 countries and regions across the world.
The pandemic has killed almost 435,000 people worldwide, with total infections reaching over 7.9 million, while just over 3.8 million people have recovered from the disease, according to figures compiled by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
