German Bundesliga side Leipzig announced Friday that defender Dayot Upamecano will stay with the club for three more years.
“I have been in Leipzig for over three years and I have continued to improve alongside the team’s development,” Upamecano said on the club’s website.
“I want to carry on developing personally, and I think Julian Nagelsmann is a coach that can bring me to the next level,” he added.
Upamecano, 21, produced three goals and two assists in 111 games for Leipzig so far.
The French defender had joined Leipzig from the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg in 2017.
