Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray’s DR Congolese defender Christian Luyindama faced a major knee injury on Friday, which may cause him to miss the rest of the season.
Galatasaray said on their website that Luyindama, 25, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture in the match between DR Congo and Gambia.
It said that he had a torn meniscus problem as well.
The Istanbul club added that Luyindama will undergo knee surgery.
Separately a football data website, Transfermarkt said that Luyindama is expected to return in May 2020.
Luyindama is a Galatasaray regular with 15 appearances this season.
