Football: Emiliano Martinez joins England's Aston Villa

ISTANBUL

English Premier League club Aston Villa confirmed Wednesday the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

The Birmingham side said Martinez has agreed on a four-year deal.

"We are really pleased with the signing of our new goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez," Dean Smith, the club's manager, said in a statement. "We know how highly Arsenal rated him, and we watched his outstanding performances last season in a trophy-winning top side."

The 28-year-old helped Arsenal win two English FA Cup trophies, and three English Super Cup titles.
