MOSCOW

A fire in a detached house killed six people in Russia's Moscow Region on Tuesday, according to the country’s Emergency Ministry.

The fire broke out at about 04:00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) in the village of Durnikha, engulfing the whole house, the ministry said in a statement.

A short circuit is considered to be the cause of the incident, it said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and managed to stop it from spreading to the neighboring houses.
