JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia

An oil tanker off the Saudi Arabian port of Jeddah was hit by an explosion Monday, according to local sources.

The Singapore-flagged BW Rhine suffered material damage after being hit by “an external source”, the BW Group, a shipping company, said in a statement.

All 22 crew members on board survived the blast without injury, the statement said.

The company warned of a possible oil spill due to the explosion.

No statement has yet been issued by Saudi Arabia or Houthis in Yemen.
