ISTANBUL

European stock markets ended mostly higher Monday on the first trading day of the new year. 

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, rose 2.19 points, or 0.45%, to close at 489.99.

Germany’s DAX 30 rose 135.87 points, or 0.86%, to close at 16,020 while France’s CAC 40 climbed 64.19 points, or 0.9%, to 7,217.

Italy’s FTSE MIB 30 was up by 383.49 points, or 1.4%, to close at 27,730.

Spain’s IBEX 35 added 47.4 points, or 0.54%, to finish at 8,761.

London’s FTSE 100 however fell by 18.47 points, or 0.25%, to end at 7,384.
