More coronavirus cases and fatalities were reported in several Eurasian and Central Asian countries on Friday.
Moldova
The nationwide death toll reached 1,344 with eight more fatalities reported over the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
Confirming another 503 infections that brought the total to 40,002, the ministry added that 13,670 are getting medical treatment in the country.
Belarus
The case count in Belarus reached 79,471 with 402 cases over the past day.
The death toll has reached 844, with five more fatalities.
A total of 74,982 patients have so far recovered in the country, while 3,595 patients are still under treatment.
Uzbekistan
In a statement, the Health Ministry in Uzbekistan said that 192 more people contracted the virus, taking the total number of cases to 57,646.
The death toll has risen to 471 with two new fatalities.
The official data showed that another 383 people recovered from the disease, bringing the count to 54,338, which approximately translates to a 94% recovery rate.
Over 2,800 people are getting medical treatment in the country.
Tajikistan
Tajikistan reported 41 more cases of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 9,852, including 77 deaths.
A total of 8,661 patients have recovered so far, while 1,114 remain under treatment.
Worldwide
Across the world, COVID-19 has claimed more than 1.02 million lives in 188 countries and regions since last December.
Over 34.42 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 23.9 million, according to latest figures from the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
